The Millennium Earl
The Millennium Earl (千年伯爵, Sennen Hakushaku?) is the First Disciple and is truly named "Adam"; he is the story's main antagonist and head of the Noah Family. Based on comments in Volume 1 of the manga, it is likely that the Earl is based on the Count of St. Germain. He is a sorcerer from long ago, and he plans to lead the world to its death.[13] He tricks people who mourn for their dead relatives and friends into resurrecting them, turning them into Akuma that he can then control.[14] The only person known to have escaped this fate was Allen Walker, who destroyed the Akuma Mana before it had a chance to take over his body. The Earl resembles a grotesque caricature of a Victorian gentleman: a rotund figure in cape and top hat, with a perpetual enormous grin and pince-nez spectacles. He has a set of large horns under his hat. This is merely the form he displays out in the open, however, as his true form looks more like a human wearing a cape and hat. Despite his intentions, he often displays a cheerful attitude, though in his true Noah form he comes across as more confident and malicious.
It was later revealed that 35 years ago, the 14th Noah Neah Walker betrayed the Earl, passed the secret about the Noah's Ark to Cross Marian, and attempted to kill the Millennium Earl; however, the 14th was killed by the Earl. It's implied that the 14th and the Earl shared a close bond prior to this incident (the Earl once has a flashback of the 14th promising to "stay by his side no matter what happens" , and the 14th's passing greatly devastated the Earl, to the point that he is still depressed whenever he mentions the 14th's betrayal. He has been trying to bring Allen to the Noah's side ever since he found out Allen is the 14th reincarnated. Even though the 14th (through Allen) reveals that he plans to kill the Earl and become the new Earl, the Earl still confesses to long for the 14th's company.
He is voiced by Junpei Takiguchi in Japanese, and in English he is voiced by Jason Liebrecht from episodes 1 to 26 and episode 40 and on, and Todd Haberkorn from episode 27 to 39.[15][16]
